toyota tacoma Toyota Tacoma Motor Trend's 2005 Truck of the Year, Tacoma is larger and more powerful than its 1995-2004 predecessor, and offers more safety features, including curtain side airbags. It comes as a regular cab, extended Access Cab, and crew-type Double Cab - offering 18 different configurations in all! The Access Cab gains rear-hinged rear doors. The Double Cab retains four conventional side doors.
A 164-hp 4-cyl replaces 142- and 150-hp fours as the base engine. The available V6 is a 245-hp 4.0-liter in place of a 190-hp 3.4. The 4-cyl comes with a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic. The V6 comes with 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. All body styles offer rear-wheel drive or 4WD. ABS is standard. A limited-slip rear differential is optional. An antiskid system is optional. Newly optional for off-road use are a locking rear differential, Toyota's Downhill Assist Control designed to maintain a slow speed on steep declines, and hill ascent control to avoid sliding backward. Toyota Tundra Though classified as full-size, the Toyota Tundra is not as big as the Nissan Titan or the domestic full-size models. However it makes up for it's lack of size in other ways - it's quick, responsive. and built to Toyota's high standards. Its 4.7-liter V8 engine supplies enough power to run with the big boys, and a properly equipped Tundra can haul up to 1,800 lbs. or tow up to 7,100 lbs. Toyota Tundra
Tundra offers three cab styles: a regular cab, an extended Access Cab with two small rear-hinged back doors, and a crew-cab Double Cab with four conventional side doors. The Double Cab's cabin is 4 inches wider than the others. Regular cabs have an 8.1-ft cargo bed. Access Cabs have a 6.1-ft bed and choice of a conventional box or Toyota's StepSide flared-fender cargo box. Double Cabs have a 6.1-ft bed with walls 4 inches higher than on other models. They also gain an available 3-passenger front bench seat for '05, so all models now offer front bucket seats or a bench.
